[RSA] Authentication Manager 8.1 SP1 – how to create and schedule a backup

Dear colleagues,

it’s always good to schedule a backup (you know just in case). You have three options to do it:

  • Local Authentication Manager Server
    • the easiest to deploy
    • sometimes “the fastest”
    • less dependencies on storage and networking team
    • backup is stored by default under /opt/rsa/am/backup
    • no need to cross FW
  • Windows Shared Folder (preferred one)
    • CIFS share needed configured with security descriptor
    • FW rules needed
    • “slower” than local
  • NFS (Network File System) Share Folder
    • similar to CIFS but security of the share is based on IP (NFS)
    • FW rules needed
    • “faster” than CIFS

Recipe (on demand backup):

  • connect to the Primary instance’s Operations Console
  • go to Maintenance – Backup and Restore – Backup Now
